Well-Being as a Goal
As a clinician, my goal is to offer those who would benefit from counseling theory a safe, non-judgmental atmosphere to address the client's needs and the process of setting goals to accomplish self care tasks in the journey of emotional, mental and physical well-being.
I subscribe to several counseling modalities including Mindfulness Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with a Humanistic Approach. I am also trained in EMDR Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing which is a form of pyschotherapy used to process memories, thoughts and feelings related to trauma. Interventions utilized may range from promotion of self-efficacy, stress management, behavior modification, coping skills training and bibliotherapy. My focus areas continue to be on anxiety, stress, grief and depression.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I hold a Master's Degree in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Texas in Brownsville. My experience has been working with adolescents and young adults in a supportive and empathic environment. The journey of life is a revolving door of variables that may sometimes require a support system during the more challenging times. Our mental health is interconnected in all aspects of our life; thus, dedicating time to wellness is a commitment to self.
